    Dear Clay,

You are my hero because you are everything that a person should be. You have gone through a lot of hard times growing up but you have overcome all of it and you have become a nice, caring, selfless, talented, funny, amazing man. You thank God and all of your fans for all of your success and for letting you be where you are today. You know how to just be yourself and you don't care what other people think of you. You have been put through so much in your life but you don't let that put you down. You never give up, no matter what is thrown at you. You are the absolute strongest , toughest person that I know! You and your beliefs don't let the music industry or anybody else tell you what to sing or what to do. You are so sincere, genuine, and accepting of all people. You are perfect in my eyes. You have given me so many wonderful memories over the past three years and I will never be able to thank you enough for changing my life so much for the better. You are and will always be my hero simply because I love the person that you are. I Love You Clay!!

I went to your concert in Knoxville, Tennessee and it was the best concert that I have ever been to. I also liked the way you came out on stage at the beginning of the concert. My favorite song on your new album is "These Open Arms". One of my friends that I went with to your concert almost lost her tickets but we found them after two minutes and she was actually crying too. If that was me I would be crying also but I kept mine in a safe place and I did not take them out untill it was time to go through the doors of the theater. My mom and I meet one of your backup singers as she was going to sound check . She was very nice stoping and saying hi to all of us that were standing there by the door but we were actually waiting for you to come for sound check because we heard that they were going to get you at the hotel for your sound check and that you would not be there untill 5:30pm. I also want to let you know that I will support you in anything that you do. I will always be your number one fan. I really don't believe that you came in second place on American Idol because you have such a amazing voice. I wish that I can tour with you one of these days because you are a nice and down to earth kind of guy. I don't believe anything that people tell me about you untill I hear it from you because you don't know what kind of stuff people say just to get what they want and I am not that kind of person and fan. I am very committed to you as a fan and as a person.

I watched you on are you smarter than fifth grader and I found out that we a lot in common like for examples: We both played baseball when we were younger, We both like apples with peanut butter, I was a tudor after for the special needs kids at my school and I take them off the school bus, We both like mac&cheese with fried chicken. I wish I can meet you someday ! I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving and A Merry Christmas. P.S. If you get a chance please fill free to call me and if you are in Bristol, Tennessee you are always welcome to my house for a home cooked meal and I will make you my mac&cheese and fried chicken.

    Love Always,

    Jamie

My story and my mission

I was born and raised in my home town: Raleigh in North Carolina. As a young boy, I sang in the Raleigh Boychoir and as a young adult with a local band: Just By Chance.

I attended Raleigh's Leesville Road High School before enrolling at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Although my American Idol activities temporarily delayed my academic pursuits, I graduated with a bachelor's degree in special education in December of 2003. I found my interest in special education while directing YMCA children's camps as a teenager; at age 19 I served as a substitute teacher for a classroom of students with autism at Brentwood Elementary School.

While attending college in Charlotte I took a part-time job as an assistant to a boy with autism, and it was this child's mother, Diane Bubel, who urged me to audition for American Idol and rest was the history. Being good always pays off in strange ways... now I can do more. I use my voice on events and concerts that benefit kids, mission as UNICEF National Ambassador, is to help ensure that children everywhere are afforded a primary education. Spare some of your time and join good cause. These kids need it and we can help...
